OFF TO IMBUL RALLY

Hi it is Friday 13th Nov all loaded and rearing to go to the 20th Imbul Leisure Riders rally.

Made it to the Gateway and the battery dropped a cell and at 9am on the Gateway you do not make many friends when you block 1/2 a lane.

RACQ to the rescue got back home and Billy from Battery Traders at Slacks Creek saved my sanity, that is what I have left of it.

Saturday morning early departure was looking a better alternative and I didn't take much convincing.  Dodge, Lorraine, Soggy and Narelle left in the friday afternoon Bruce Hwy stop start traffic crawl out of Bris, very brave souls.

Robyn & Pat were waiting up at the deer park venue with a camp site roped off, see thats what friends are for.

Saturday morning 5-30am the day breaking sky looked a little ordinary, but the further north up the Gateway I went the brighter it got and turned out a top morning.

200klm to the destination and not 1 traffic light, with a 100 klm speed limit for most of the trip, 2 or in my case 3 wheel heaven. just cruising off to a good time, sure beats mowing the lawn.

Arrived 8 am to a very active scene at the Deer Park but fortunatly Dodge was waiting with a camp site organised.

It was good to settle back have a coffee and take the rally scene in.

Choco and some of his friends were camped next to us and it was good to catchup on old times.  Choco old Mate you were smart to get away from the dressup, look alike bikies, sad really that their whole scene is goverened by immitating the 1% clubs dress code. It is the person in the clothes, not the clothes on the person that matters.

Chilli an ex Ulysses Logan president dropped over for a social yak, he was a good man for Logan UC and they were habitual rally attendees untill he decided to take his interests in a different direction.   It was top shelf to relive some of the good times that we all used to have at these weekend events. (back to the future rally)

2 dogs & maneater were slipping around the crowd, they organised  the Tinny rally, disapointing to see it end. A lot of good times happened at Tingoora.

A total of 1,140 people paid entry + the usual free ones a good turn up for the organisers.

The Gold Coast Cruiser Club members were there in force with Aquilla, Goatee and Patch leading the charge.  A good solid group of like minded motorcyclists who have set up their group up to operate without all the infighting and petty garbage that destroys a lot of clubs. We will be going to the toy run that they have on early Dec.

Saturday evening up at the bar area, brought me in contact with a lot of people who I had met at previous rallies, and it is great to have a cold cleansing ale with these unpretentious people,

The venue rocked on Saturday night, good music, cold grog (priced right), hot tucker and bundle all this up with a good spirited crowd, a formula for a successful event.

The Leisure Riders can be proud of their efforts and they are to be congratulated for this event.

Over 1,200 people from all walks of life, no booze restrictions, all gathered together for a good time brought together by one common purpose, motorcycles.

No dramas or fights, no police needed, how can this be?

Let the media tell this story, very doubtful that they would, because the was nothing to twist around.  No gun toting, drug dealing bikies, no rapists anywhere to be found, so the media would not have an interest in this event. Why tell the truth when a lie will do?

A very economical ride home, used very little fuel, probably because I got a flat rear tyre at Nambour and thanks once more to RACQ Ultra I got a ride home with Claytons Towing.

Fitting a new rear tyre is a job I'm not looking forward to, but beats working for the man.

Until Lake Maroon weekend.

Take care  Macca
