There was just a group of 5 of us but once more quality not quantity made the night.

The amazing thing was that 4 different waitresses could not work out the correct change for drinks. The errors ranged from $1.20 to $33.60 a sad reflection of the education system they were all stumped without a calculator to tell them.

All errors were in our favour, so they were not doing it to dud us.

We are planning a 5 day cruise on the Dawn Princess for the New Year and have obtained a greatly discounted rate through Escape Travel with P&O.

Having cruised with P&O before and having experienced their excellent on board hospitality we are looking forward to once again spending time with them.

Sure beats just dreaming about doing it.

We have shelved any group activities until late January, which the first event will be the Connondale Z Rally, normally a good event each year.

Until the New Year , take care.

Camp Lake Fire weekend.

This good place is situated on Burnett Creek Rd approx 25 klm from Boonah via Rathdowney, right on the shores of Lake Maroon.

After a big weekend at the Imbul rally, it was decided to have a lazy weekend at this camp ground.

Out of home at 3pm Friday headed down Mt. Lindsay Hwy through Beaudesert to Rathdowney for a short stop to change a flat tyre on the boat trailer. I will set a new record for flat tyres.

Soggy & Narelle went scooting past, Max & Lorraine pulled up to assist but all was in hand and Barbara & I were soon on our way again bringing up the rear.

It is a scenic drive on some very poor sealed road, in sections once you turn off Mt. Lindsay hwy on to the Boonah / Rathdowney Rd.

After getting lost trying to follow a hand out map we arrived on dusk and set up our camper for the stay then settled down to a few cold cleansing ales to settle the brain down.

It is a good place to fish, walk or like us just chill out like we did.

The facilities are ample and well maintained; the Lake is 60% full so plenty of water for ski activities.

A good relaxing couple of days was had, good weather, good company and cold gold life is so good.

It is a motorcycle friendly place and the manager owns a couple of bikes one being a new Victory the other being a Rocket 111. Good people to meet.

Sun morning there was a bit of low cloud over the hills so we packed up early and headed home, back to the real world.

Next Sunday off to the Gold Coast Cruiser Club annual toy run, from Worgarry, should be a good one. Regards Macca.

OFF TO IMBUL RALLY

Hi it is Friday 13th Nov all loaded and rearing to go to the 20th Imbul Leisure Riders rally.

Made it to the Gateway and the battery dropped a cell and at 9am on the Gateway you do not make many friends when you block 1/2 a lane.

RACQ to the rescue got back home and Billy from Battery Traders at Slacks Creek saved my sanity, that is what I have left of it.

Saturday morning early departure was looking a better alternative and I didn't take much convincing. Dodge, Lorraine, Soggy and Narelle left in the friday afternoon Bruce Hwy stop start traffic crawl out of Bris, very brave souls.

Robyn & Pat were waiting up at the deer park venue with a camp site roped off, see thats what friends are for.

Saturday morning 5-30am the day breaking sky looked a little ordinary, but the further north up the Gateway I went the brighter it got and turned out a top morning.

200klm to the destination and not 1 traffic light, with a 100 klm speed limit for most of the trip, 2 or in my case 3 wheel heaven. just cruising off to a good time, sure beats mowing the lawn.

Arrived 8 am to a very active scene at the Deer Park but fortunatly Dodge was waiting with a camp site organised.

It was good to settle back have a coffee and take the rally scene in.

Choco and some of his friends were camped next to us and it was good to catchup on old times. Choco old Mate you were smart to get away from the dressup, look alike bikies, sad really that their whole scene is goverened by immitating the 1% clubs dress code. It is the person in the clothes, not the clothes on the person that matters.

Chilli an ex Ulysses Logan president dropped over for a social yak, he was a good man for Logan UC and they were habitual rally attendees untill he decided to take his interests in a different direction. It was top shelf to relive some of the good times that we all used to have at these weekend events. (back to the future rally)

2 dogs & maneater were slipping around the crowd, they organised the Tinny rally, disapointing to see it end. A lot of good times happened at Tingoora.

A total of 1,140 people paid entry + the usual free ones a good turn up for the organisers.

The Gold Coast Cruiser Club members were there in force with Aquilla, Goatee and Patch leading the charge. A good solid group of like minded motorcyclists who have set up their group up to operate without all the infighting and petty garbage that destroys a lot of clubs. We will be going to the toy run that they have on early Dec.

Saturday evening up at the bar area, brought me in contact with a lot of people who I had met at previous rallies, and it is great to have a cold cleansing ale with these unpretentious people,

The venue rocked on Saturday night, good music, cold grog (priced right), hot tucker and bundle all this up with a good spirited crowd, a formula for a successful event.

The Leisure Riders can be proud of their efforts and they are to be congratulated for this event.

Over 1,200 people from all walks of life, no booze restrictions, all gathered together for a good time brought together by one common purpose, motorcycles.

No dramas or fights, no police needed, how can this be?

Let the media tell this story, very doubtful that they would, because the was nothing to twist around. No gun toting, drug dealing bikies, no rapists anywhere to be found, so the media would not have an interest in this event. Why tell the truth when a lie will do?

A very economical ride home, used very little fuel, probably because I got a flat rear tyre at Nambour and thanks once more to RACQ Ultra I got a ride home with Claytons Towing.

Fitting a new rear tyre is a job I'm not looking forward to, but beats working for the man.

Until Lake Maroon weekend.

Take care Macca

.

It’s Soggies birthday.

Not a bad place for a cold cleansing ale, good clean well appointed venue, pleasant staff,

parking at rear with security in attendance, all good for a visitor to kick back and enjoy an evening with friends.

Narelle had things in hand and had organized a table for 20 which soon became too small as people kept coming to the festivities.

After the meal out came the caked adorned in sparklers and the worst out of tune voices tried to deliver a unified version of happy birthday.

Fair dinkum two tom cats on a moonlight night would have got it more in tune.

Good to sit and chat with Robyn & Pat, I learnt that he was into rodeo, especially bull riding. He certainly gets his kicks the hard way.

Dodge had really scrubbed up for the event with Lorraine to keep him in line set about forgetting what a shit of a day it had been standing in the sun trying to get the motoring morons to conform to the road works requirements.

Barbara and Narelle consumed the odd glass of plonk, me stuck on soda water had to drive home. Take care Macca

Good facilities, no great line up for toilets or showers, plenty camping space for all.

An easy run from Brisbane 225 klms out on the Darling Downs to the township.

Friday night local crew cooked up dinner and for $2. a good feed of sausages, eggs toast etc. hard to beat and with coffee/tea avail free all weekend no room for complaints.

Saturday lunch through to Sunday breakfast was catered by the local Lions Club once more good value for money.

Usual rally events saturday afternoon and entertainment by band 7 to 12 pm.

I met alot of old aquaintances from various Ulysses Clubs and other ralleys that I had attended over the years, and it was good to catch up with them, all good people just enjoying themselves. Apparently the Mt.Lindsay Blues Rally was a great success for them both in numbers and finances, with 200 odd members that UC Branch sure has grown, good luck to them.

Donna "Big Red", ( should be Slim Red) and Kimmy had organised a choclate birthday cake for Crash, a good thought just a little thing but it ment a lot to Crash that someone cared. Good one girls, a fine example of friendship without seeking reward. Horizontal was doing what he is noted for, good on you Greg, yes I know you told me so.

A lady ( who will remain nameless ) approached me and said that a set of nickle chain vest extenders she had bought from me had shrunk and could she get them replaced. Fair dinkum it was not that she had put on weight that caused the problem, no way "the chain had shrunk".

Met a couple from Oxley who were at their first ralley. Robyn and Paddy they enjoyed themselves so much they are comming up to Imbul in november.

Robyn does photographic work and audio visual presentations, good unprententious couple. Refreshing to meet such people Robyn rides a scooter and Paddy rides a ?

too much XXXX I forget what it is. sorry Paddy.

Dodge, Lorraine, Soggy, Narelle and Barbara all behaved themselves, so I had to consume their share it was good fun untill Sunday morning. Doesn't happen often.

HEALTH,HAPPINESS & LONG LIFE .. Macca

Will give you a report when we get back.

We have gone back to the old ways of attending most of the local ralleys, as they are a good social event and the clubs who put them on, put a lot of effort into making them a success.

Take care Macca:dry::lol:

Field day Swap meet Cleveland

Hi there, a different Sunday run.

The Old Truck, Bus, Commercial Vehicle and Machinery field day and swap meet is held each year at this time at the Cleveland Show grounds.

The displays were fewer this year than previous shows but there was still plenty to see and spend your dollars on at the swap meet section. Old petrol bowsers, oil dispensers, parts for early model cars, tractors and commercials.

From a chain drive Mack flat top truck through to Barnes Auto showing off their new Scania 600hp 8 wheel heavy duty recovery unit.

Brought back many memories of many slow painful miles between Sydney and Cairns, no air condt, no power steer, sleep across hard front seat, with a 160hp Cummins engine that was terrified of hills and hydraulic brakes that made the bravest clench their cheeks going down hill.

While I was looking a beautifully restored B Model Mack, some poor sad fellow said ?gee these were a great truck; they certainly don?t make them like this anymore?.

I thought you are dead set wanker, they would have been the biggest mongrel of a thing to drive, hot in summer, cold in winter, back breaking rough ride and cramped like nothing else on the road, undoubtedly he had never worked one, Thank God they don?t make them like that anymore.

There were a lot of units for sale, I guess the costs of restoring and maintaining some of the equipment runs in the tens of thousands and where transport companies at one time got involved, today smaller ones cannot afford the luxury and the bigger companies cannot be bothered.

There were only 3 motorcycles and 1 outfit on display, they were part of the military display and had been done up to a high standard, including all the leather work that had been hand sown. and the workmanship was 1st class; a credit to their owners.

One greasy bacon & egg roll for breakfast from the canteen and it was time to get home before the grease did its trick.

It was worth the run down to Cleveland, next weekend I am going to Kilcoy for the Valley Rally where I will set up our promo stall and enjoy a good time and a cold cleansing ale with some of the Ulysses people from around the area. Take care. Macca

I have checked the net & googled up racing camels, but learn't nothing of value. Probably just get a race guide and use the close eyes and stick a pin method, anyway I'll let you know how we go. If you want to TT some $ to me I'll put a bet on for you and if it wins I'll let you know, promise. Will tell you more when we all get back, that is if we survive all the festivities in the bush.

take care Macca

Well we went, we saw and we had a ripper of a good time, Tara 2009 a good event. Some pictures are on the site.

Got out there about noon Friday and the town was a hive of activity, as the locals prepared for the influx of visitors coming for the weekend of festivities. Out to the show grounds and discovered a hell of a lot of organising and effort had been down to get the weekend to a good result. Camping spot no drama as it was all set out so that no set area was too far from facilities.

Motorhomes, caravans, campers, tent sites or just park and swag it, all catered for with motorhomes being the most units there. From the old council bus to the flashest they had all made the trek to Tara.

One good thing was the number of showers/toilets that were provided, at no time was there any long wait even on the Saturday when there was 3,500 odd people at the grounds.

All tasts were catered for both food and entertainment.

Food was from a pie to a sit down dinner, from sausage on bread to asian dishes all priced ok even the booze was not as expensive as I have seen at bike rallies. A can of beer $3.50 at Haigslea rally $5. this is why people are getting sick of the events where they charge stick it up prices for things, under the pretense of "raising money for charity" oh yeah! and charge around $20. gate fee at some venue that has virtually no or little toilet/shower facilities.and some pathetic 3rd rate entertainment, why? Are we of The Motorcycle fraternatity such a sad lot that we have to accept seccond rate events at a get together(rally)?.in the name of raising money for charity. I don't think so.

Come on guys and girls, you need to get out have a look at what is required and lift your game.

The camels raced around, walked around or just got cranky and sat down in the middle of the track, the bookies took your money, the grog flowed, the bands played, the dancers from various countries performed, the showies barked out requests for your money, the grog flowed, the chicks showed off their utes, the crew from Toowoomba gave rides on their bikes, the grog flowed, the sheep dogs did their thing, the yabbies raced, the country singers sang, the grog flowed, the fireworks lit up the night sky, and the band played on till midnight.

Not one fight or real drama, just a good time was had by all, unless of course there is something wrong with you.

We left Tara Sunday morn just as the day of continued activities had started, leaving crew behind, had to get back to the asylum.

Cost for the whole event included camping fees was $15. a head in total that covered from Fri to Mon. The chap I was talking to said that they (the local clubs etc) would do well out of it and I trust they did, they sure put the effort in.

Tara 2009 was a very good event and well worth the trip out, I am glad that I went.

Regards Macca

Tried to get to have a drink with the Pope but Rudd beat them he gave him a 6 pack of plonk and all Dodge has is Bundy and coke premixed. Bad luck for the Pope would have been a cultural shock, for him to have a drink with the bearded one, when he is in full flight.

Travel safe and return sane after 8 weeks of living out of a suitcase I would be dead set crazier than I normally am.

If you see on the news about lunartics loose in Europe or Middle East, you will know who they are.

Take care. Macca

Xmas in July.

A special thanks to all who gave a little of their time to organize the tucker side of things.

Due to the rodeo being held at Canungra we decided to move our event down the Lions rd. Rathdowney to Drynan camp area, a scenic spot with good area for vans & tents.

Friday night was raining but Saturday saw the sun sneak out, the event was under way.

Fires lit, drinks poured and that was before breakfast. The rest of the crew arrived mid morning and all settled down to a lazy relaxing day getting rid of the city blues.

As per usual Santa arrived that evening and distributed joy and gifts to all the naughty people in attendance.

Santa Gumby is one of the good guys that you meet occasionally. He rides with The Saints CMC and he had already put in a full day before hooking up his van and heading down to Rathdowney. He certainly put a smile on the women?s faces with his antics and banter. Thank you Gumby for your support, it is appreciated.

A mega feast was served pot roast meats and veggies, damper with golden syrup followed by fruit pudding with all the decadent trimmings.

Camp fires stoked up, glass of church block in hand, looking up to the heavens all the stars shining and good company sitting around, good to be alive.

Take care, Macca

:dry:Hi there, JUST RIDING ON.

Just a new page to let the world know what we are all about on the social scene.

Many people have contacted me regarding The Logan City SMC. since we decided to become independant from any other club or association. This way no giant ego or wannabe kings or queens are shoving their controling adgenda down your throat.

We at Logan have no interest in establishing any other branches whatsoever, we will just make sure that we enjoy our chosen activity without any of the dramas that a lot of groups have.

We have rules that must be adhered to.

Rule 1. NEVER DO ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ANOTHER MEMBER TO DO TO YOU.

Rule 2. RIDE WHATEVER MAKE, SIZE, STYLE, COLOUR, MOTORCYCLE,TRIKE, SCOOTER or OUTFIT YOU WISH TO. It is as simple as that. Your ride your choice.

Rule 3. ENJOY WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Most of us have been members of so called "motorcycle clubs" but many have found as I did that they were run by a click and dynamite would not have shifted them. The Virago Club was a good group but has ceased to function because big heads refused to let go and good people voted with their feet, and even hard workers like Pinky couldn't put it back together. This is why members get very disenchanted with various groups.

Riders who have joined the clubs that boast to be the biggest, soon find that they are just a number & a source of revenue for the heirachy, either follow the party line without question or get treated like they are from another planet.

We don't conduct meetings where the bush lawyers and big egos want to shove their version of some constitution down every other members throat to reach their own pathetic goal. A meeting should be free from any abusive or threatening behaviour that is why we meet on a social basis, have a meal, have a drink and talk some bull whatever, just a part of enjoying good company, good times and enjoying the good life.

We do not want members just to boast how big we are with branches world wide, but cannot handle immediate areas. The big dick syndrome, I call it.

We do not want members just to collect dues, we do not collect dues, we operate on a user pays their own way basis. No fat cats here just some fat riders like me.+ thin ones.

QUALITY NOT QUANTITY regards to membership goals.

Get involved with Logan, we are real bike people who love and live life.

Do not be shy call over and say hi.

Meanwhile I will update you on our good time activities.

Macca
